Bechtle's success is based on the centralisation of the administrative branches (e.g. finance, personnel, purchasing, logistics and corporate communication) under the roof of the holding company which also incorporates the Logistik & Service GmbH. This ensures that the turnover generating business segments, i.e. the IT system houses and IT e-commerce, can focus on their respective core competencies. This efficient concept not only guarantees the freedom required for optimum customer care, but also increases profitability through lean processes and the consolidation of purchasing volumes. In short: Bechtle combines the strength and integrity of an international corporation with the proximity, personal care and flexibility of a regional service provider.
Bechtle GmbH EDV-Technik opens its doors on 21 July 1983. In its first abbreviated fiscal year it turns in a revenue of DM 66,000.
Bechtle receives its first online order after making its Internet debut in 1995 with 150 products.
Bechtle AG successfully goes public with an issuing price of €27. The Bechtle share is oversubscribed 12 times.
Bechtle breaks the billion-euro revenue barrier and becomes a constituent in the German technology stock index TecDAX. The company also acquires the Swiss ARP-Datacon Group and moves into their new head office in Neckarsulm.
Despite the economic downturn, Bechtle continues to do business in 11 countries, including at their newest e-commerce subsidiary in Portugal.
Vision 2020 is developed.
Bechtle builds strategic alliances with IT suppliers PC Connection (USA), Atea (Scandina- via and Baltic countries), and Lexel (New Zealand and Australia).
JBS (Japan), Datacentrix (South Africa), and JOS (Southeast Asia) join Bechtle’s Global IT Alliance. Bechtle acquires Modus Consult AG in a move to strengthen its business with software solutions.
Global IT Alliance grows by new members Compucentro (Mexico), Microware (Brazil) and Data#3 (Australia).
